- Hey! ISUXDIX Season One is done! In the books! Let's get right to the last 3
shows.
Show 28: We kicked off with Zeus McFly taking on newcomer El Hijo del
Mijo, and after some Scott Steiner-style antics, McFly wrapped up the win with a
420 Piledriver transitioned smoothly into a bow-and-arrow submission. McFly
continues his winning ways heading into the season finale. Coming off his win
over Scott Henson on Show 27, Chris Mason cornered Daniel Makabe in the back to
guarantee his title shot against PSYCH for next show, which he did successfully,
and, surprisingly, relatively nonviolently. Next was the aforementioned Scott
Henson taking on Dr. Unk, and after some back and forth including a backstage
brawl, Henson was able to drill Unk with a CRITICAL! for the win. And that
brings us to the main: Daniel Makabe, who took Show 27 off to concentrate on
this match and heal from the attack on Show 26, against his attacker, Allan
Creasy. Besides the short match against Scott Henson on Show 10, this will be
Allan Creasy's first match since January of 2008, when he left VCW. This match
had been coming for a long time, as Allan Creasy only appears in ISUXDIX when he
has a mission. He first appeared under the guise of Chester A. Tabby to at first
torment and then teach Scott Henson to accept his feline nature, and now his
sights are set on Daniel Makabe, whose conflict of interest between being a
match maker and an active wrestler he can no longer take. This is, of course,
what Creasy said, though it seems that what went unspoken is Creasy's jealousy
of former tag partner Daniel Makabe and all his success since Creasy left
wrestling. That being said, Makabe, who started off with a substantial
undefeated streak in ISUXDIX, has recently been on quite a slide downwards, with
recent losses to PSYCH, Drew Sarian, Zeus McFly, Chris Mason, and Kaden Talbain.
So momentum may not be on his side. Allan Creasy looked none too rusty given how
long he's been away from the ring, and took it to Makabe straight away. After a
hard fought match on both parts, Creasy was going for a second Powerbreaker
(after Makabe kicked out of the first), but Makabe rolled through smoothly into
a sunset flip, and then turned Creasy over into a Ground Abdominal Stretch, and
Creasy, with nowhere to go, was forced to tap out. So Makabe has vanquished his
foe and gotten a much needed win heading into the season finale. Post-show,
Scott Henson tried to cheer up his friend/mentor, who was inconsolable.
Show 29: If you haven't downloaded this episode, you're an asshole. Two
of the best matches in ISUXDIX's run on one show. Things started off with Daniel
Makabe officially annoucing the PSYCH vs. Chris Mason title match when he was
interrupted by Scott Henson, looking to exact revenge for Makabe's win over
Allan Creasy last week and demanding a match. Makabe accepted, and let Henson
know as he was exiting that the match would be a TLC Match. Henson, justifiably,
found this ridiculous, as a TLC is usually reserved for the last in a series of
matches. Makabe agreed, but stated that it was out of his hands, as this was the
TLC show, so they had to do a TLC Match, regardless of how stupid and illogical
it is. Good enough reason for the WWE, good enough for us, I suppose. So,
unconventionally, we started off with the title match, PSYCH, with 6 successful
defenses under his belt, taking on perhaps his greatest rival, and his opponent
in the first match ever in ISUXDIX, Chris Mason. We're not going to tell you
anything about this match, as text is not the proper medium to describe such a
thing. Watch it, and see how PSYCH won, knocking down his V7 defense and heading
into the season finale as champion of almost a full year. Daniel Makabe caught
up with Zeus McFly in the back, looking to get some booking done for the fast
approaching season finale. Makabe said what with McFly's win in the main event
of PPV 4 against Scott Henson and a series of wins since then, McFly could have
pretty much any match he wanted, even a title shot. McFly's logical choice: DR.
UNK! Chris Mason, furious with his loss in the title match, issued an open
challenge to anyone for the season finale. The challenge was accepted soon after
by Mercury, who has a bone to pick with Mason, who ruined Mercury's last
"finale" experience (the last VCW show in July 2009) by demanding another match
with, ironically, PSYCH, who Mercury was supposed to face. Next up was our
second and final match, as Daniel Makabe took on perhaps HIS greatest rival as
well, Scott Henson, in a TLC Match with a contract hanging above the ring
stipulating that if Makabe can win, he can override any creative control in
Henson's contract and choose his season finale opponent, and if Henson wins,
Makabe must retire from active wrestling in ISUXDIX, and stick exclusively to
matchmaking, baking goods, and fire marshalling. Again, we're not telling you
anything about this. Watch it, and see how Makabe won and kept his wrestling
career alive, and completely ruined Henson's week. So going into the season
finale, we've got Zeus McFly vs. Dr. Unk, Chris Mason vs. Mercury (presumably,
if Mason accepts Mercury's challenge), Scott Henson vs. an opponent of Daniel
Makabe's choosing, and one would assume a PSYCH title defense.
Show 30/PPV 5/Season Finale: And it all comes down to this. The show was
interspersed with "What Did You Get Out of ISUXDIX" promos, the companion to the
"What Do You Want Out of ISUXDIX promos" early in the season, which we won't get
into detail on, but produced some of the better promos we've done. We started
off as we often do with Daniel Makabe backstage running down the show. After a
brief and pointless appearance by former VCW wrestler Nick Price, Makabe made
Chris Mason vs. Mercury official, as well as Zeus McFly vs. Dr. Unk. Scott
Henson then appeared, extremely cocky, as even though Makabe beat him in the TLC
Match and gets to choose his opponent, he doesn't have any options but to put
him in the title match with PSYCH in the main event. Makabe disagreed, and
immediately booked him against his tag partner and only friend in ISUXDIX, the
heretofore forgotten about Kaden Talbain, MUCH to the chagrin on both men (er,
wolves/cats... you know, whatever the fuck they are). Which left the matter of
the title match, as Drew Sarian walked in, still on crutches, to Makabe's
disappointment. Makabe wanted to book the big PSYCH/Sarian rematch after their
title match went to a double countout on the last PPV, and hoped Sarian would be
healed from the injuried sustained in that match by now. Makabe, flustered and
disappointed, didn't know what to do for the main event now. Luckily, Sarian
tossed the crutches aside and took off his street clothes to reveal his
wrestling attire and that he was, in fact, healed and had doctor's clearance to
wrestle. With this great news, Makabe booked the rematch on the spot for the
main event. Sarian asked what Makabe was doing for the show. Makabe said after a
tough day of booking and a tough match last show, he was going to sit this one
out. Sarian asked Makabe to allow him to be MAKABE'S chief executive officer of
matchmaking and baked goods for a minute, and invited him to participate in the
title match main event, making it a 3 Way. Makabe gladly accepted, and the main
event of PSYCH defending against Drew Sarian and Daniel Makabe in a 3 Way was
set. Chris Mason vs. Mercury, our opener, was all action, and our largest crowd
ever loved every minute. Mercury, after numerous attempts, locked in the Ankle
Lock while standing on the ropes for extra leverage and was able to get a rare
tap-out victory over Chris Mason. Mason got the last laugh, however, nailing
Mercury with a Spinning Doctor Bomb as Mercury was celebrating his victory. Zeus
McFly and Dr. Unk had barely gotten going when McFly busted out a blast from the
past, the Inward Death, and completely crushed Unk's midsection, in fact to the
point where the referee deemed Unk unable to continue. Probably not the way
McFly wanted to win, but he'll take it. After McFly headed to the back and Unk
was helped to the back, there was a brief pause, and then out of nowhere, McFly
came tumbling out of the backstage area, followed by Unk. Unk, having recovered
enough to regain his bearings, wanted to finish things off with a bang. He
tossed McFly back into the ring, and suplexed him onto a hard plastic cone, much
to the crowd's delight. Our semi-main was the collision of Fur and Loathing
(though it is unclear who was which), as tag partners Scott Henson and Kaden
Talbain were forced to wrestle each other as per Daniel Makabe's win in the TLC
Match over Henson last show. They started out by making a mockery of wrestling,
placing each other in fake holds and pretending it hurt. Daniel Makabe, at
ringside, could take no more, and got on the mic, deriding them and appealing to
the crowd. This eventually got to Henson and Talbain, and we finally had a
proper match on our hands. After Henson did an Allan Creasy tribute spinebuster,
and Talbain did a Lenny D tribute Dangan Elbow and Dragon Clutch, all hell broke
loose with tribute moves. The two ended up doing move tributes to literally even
major VCW/ISUXDIX player in history, from Jacob Myles, to Shane Mondo, to Ryan
Briggs, to Kingpin, to even Hardcore Hillbilly and "The Outstanding Athlete"
Andrew Poole (both of whom were in attendance!). After unsuccessful attempts at
a Top Turnbuckle Darkness Buster and You Sunk The World by Talbain and Henson
respectively, they went into a very fast sequence of reversals (especially
considering they had been wrestling for 25 minutes at this point), culminating
in Talbain going for a Darkness Buster and Henson quickly reversing into the
Cat's Cradle for the win. All that leaves is the main event. PSYCH, champion
since Show 10, aired March 28, 2011, now here 20 shows and 7 title defenses
later on Show 30, aired March 21, 2012, exactly one week short of a full year
reign, taking on the two people who have probably given him the most trouble in
his run: Daniel Makabe, who ended PSYCH's undefeated streak in a non-title
match, and Drew Sarian, PSYCH's only other singles match non-win, as they went
to a double countout on PPV 4/Show 23 after an apron-to-floor spear through a
table by Sarian. It goes without saying that the crowd loved everything about
this: a fast paced 3 Way featuring the three most liked people in ISUXDIX. The
only tough thing was who to root for: Makabe, who this time last year was
perhaps never going to wrestle again and is now coming back to perhaps win the
title; Sarian, who has been nearly as dominant as PSYCH in ISUXDIX, coming back
to win the title after his previous shot was inconclusive and left him injured;
and of course, PSYCH, the defending champion and flagbearer of ISUXDIX, riding a
15-1-1 singles record, going for his eighth title defense and a year-long reign.
After a full match of craziness, including a three-man dragon screw that will
blow your mind, PSYCH took out Makabe with his signature Shooting Star Press.
However, Sarian broke up with pin with a stiff Superkick right to PSYCH's head,
following with a series of maneuvers PSYCH was unable to reverse, and finishing
with the very spear that ended their previous match. And just like that, PSYCH's
amazing title reign finally came to a close, and we had just our third ever
ISUXDIX Champion Uv Men: Fighting And Grappling in Drew Sarian. The three men
celebrated in the ring to close the show, only to be rudely interrupted and
attacked with chairs by Fur & Loathing of Scott Henson and Kaden Talbain. They
aimed to end the show THEIR way. However, they did not count on the surprise
return of Yakuza J, who stormed the ring and ran absolutely roughshod over them.
As Makabe, Sarian, and PSYCH were able to recover, they joined in the fun too,
hitting their signature moves on their attackers, finishing with a beautiful
Shooting Star Press on both Henson and Talbain at once. The four "faces" of
ISUXDIX stood tall in the ring, while Fur & Loathing left with their tails
between their legs and promised to get revenge "next season." The final "What
Did You Get Out of ISUXDIX" promo was, appropriately, Daniel Makabe, who has
very much been the face of ISUXDIX. As he got carried away talking about all of
his matches and accomplishments, things faded out into Daniel Makabe waking up
in a cold sweat in his bedroom. He called Yakuza J in and asked him about
ISUXDIX. Yakuza J had no knowledge of any wrestling fed beside VCW. As Makabe
began to think ISUXDIX had been all a dream, Scott Henson, in full tiger attire,
popped up in the bed beside him, telling him to "think again" as his tail
twitched. Makabe then woke up AGAIN, a victim of the old dream-within-a-dream
trick. He called both Yakuza J and Scott Henson (in normal attire) into the
room. Again, they had never heard of this "ISUXDIX", and it turns out Makabe
didn't even know what day it was, as it was July 27, 2009, the day after the
last VCW show, not March 2012. Henson and Yakuza reminded him that they're
leaving for England in a few days to attend Heatfest 2009 and that Makabe should
start getting ready. As Makabe shook out the cobwebs, and accepted that he had
dreamed 18 months and 30 shows of ISUXDIX, he got up and left the room. The
camera panned back around his room to a table in the corner, where a certain
ISUXDIX Champion Uv Men: Fighting And Grappling title belt was sitting,
unnoticed.
- Next item on the agenda: getting the ISUXDIX Season One Awards ballot up.
Should be within the next week. Awards Show is scheduled for Saturday, April
21st at a venue TBD.
- Oh, you know those 7/5/09 and 7/26/09 full VCW shows with commentary we've
been talking about FOREVER? Yeah, those are up.
Right here. Even if you hate our wrestling, download the 7/26/09 show for
one of our best promos.
- By the way, THANK YOU, all of you, for making ISUXDIX Season One an incredibly
fun and rewarding experience.
