- NEW CHAMPS! Yes, plural. In an unprecedented happening, BOTH VCW titles, the
Canadian and Triple Crown changed hands not only on the same day, but in
back-to-back matches. Let's not get ahead of ourselves, though. To start things
off at Saturday's show, we had our first European Rounds match in over three
years (our last one being Yakuza J and Daniel Makabe in January '03) with Yakuza
J taking on PSYCH. Some excellent work by both men led to them alternating who
had the advantage at the end of each 3-minute round. Just over a minute into the
fifth and final round, Yakuza countered a Tornado DDT in MID-AIR into the
Northern Lights Bomb for the win. Next up, Drew Sarian was back in action, this
time as "Drewgene Dinsmore", taking on Special K. A Stunner, People's Elbow, Big
Boot, and Atomic Leg Drop were all too much for Special K to take, as Drewgene
got the win. The semi-main was Big Al defending the Canadian Title against Nick
Price, who he defeated just over a month ago at the 200th Show. Price, however,
earned another title shot the hard way by winning Survival of the Illest a few
weeks ago, which actually included Al in it. Al absolutely went to town on Nick
Price's leg in this match, but Price fought back, concentrating his efforts on
Big Al's right arm and shoulder, setting up for the Border City Stretch, which
has done well for him lately. Despite Al controlling more of the match, the end
came when Nick went for the Busaiku Knee, Al dodged it, went for the POUNCE, but
got caught in an armbar takedown directly into the Border City Stretch, which
Nick completely cranked in the center of the ring, giving Al no choice but to
tap, bringing his title reign to an end on his sixth defense. Nick Price follows
in Jacob Myles's footsteps of winning the Canadian Title shortly after winning
Survival of the Illest. The main was the scheduled main for the 200th Show,
Ruckus defending the title against Scott Henson, who was getting his first
Triple Crown shot since losing the title to Chris Mason in September of 2003.
The way this match played out is probably considerably different than if they
had actually fought on the 200th Show last month, as in the month delay on the
match, a lot more bad blood developed between the two than there was previously.
No time was wasted with a feeling-out process, as the two went right at each
other, each trying to hit the big move that would subdue his opponent for 3
seconds. Late in the match, Henson was able to bust out the second ever You Sunk
My Spanish Armada, but was so out of it himself, he took quite some time to pin
Ruckus, leading to a kickout. Even so, Henson was still pissed off that his
premiere move couldn't get it done, and went kick-crazy on Ruckus, finishing up
with the first CRITICAL! of the match. Henson made the pin more quickly this
time, but Ruckus still somehow kicked. Henson, more prepared for this
contingency this time, grabbed Ruckus's kickout-arm and went directly into the
Crossface of SCOTT, the move that won Henson the title on his last reign in
January 2003. Ruckus, on the verge of passing out, still wouldn't quit, so
Henson quickly picked him up and hit the move that had been rumoured in the
locker room but no one knew what it was, the Ka-Blamo 2K6. The move turned out
to be a fireman's carry spun into an Emerald Frosion on the FAR side of the
attacker's body, which absolutely dumped Ruckus on his head/neck/shoulder, and
was finally enough for Scott Henson to get the pin and regain the Triple Crown,
beginning his third reign in the current VCW era. And thus ended probably the
most eventful non-supershow ever.
- Chris Mason will make his VCW return after a 6-month Ontario stint next week,
taking on Zeus McFly.
- Daniel Makabe is still out with his hurt hand, and will be back either this
coming weekend or the following weekend. Scott Henson also injured his thumb
against Ruckus, and will be having it X-rayed tomorrow, to see how serious it
is, and how much (if any) time he'll miss.

- Two updates in three days. Amazing. Anyway, the story of the day on Monday was
small show, big matches. We started of with a non-title, non-sanctioned, no-DQ
match between Canadian Champion Big Al, and Scott Henson, who is still trying to
send a message to Al's partner Ruckus. Just minutes into the match, after some
Henson stalling, it appeared that Ruckus received Henson's messages as of late,
as he ran into the ring and KILLIFIED Henson with Henson's own Halliburton,
finishing off with a top-rope fistdrop onto the Halliburton on Henson's head.
Seeing as it was no-DQ, this was all perfectly legal, and Al pinned Henson with
one finger. It will be Henson vs. Ruckus for the Triple Crown this weekend. Next
up was a 3 Way Dance featuring 3 of the 6 people involved in the upcoming taped
date: Zeus McFly, Nick Price, and Special K. There were 8 flavours of
ridiculousness in this match, but thankfully less gayness than the last time the
three were together in the ring (likely due to the absence of Pistol Pete HG).
McFly murdered Special K by powerbombing Nick Price onto his back. Price came
back with the win, though, with a mean Border City Stretch on McFly for the
tapout. The main event was a first time ever encounter, as Ruckus defended the
VCW Triple against possibly his toughest opponent yet, former champion Yakuza J,
who was also putting up his WSW Strong Style Title. Ruckus had a good gameplan
going in, as he attacked the legs of the big man, hoping to set up for the
Sasore Gatame. Yakuza focussed his attack on Ruckus's neck and back. When the
Northern Lights Bomb failed to get the job done, Yakuza busted out the Northern
Lights Bomb 2K6 (a Wristclutch Sitdown NLB), but even THAT wasn't enough to take
the title off the champ. Ruckus was finally able to hit the Code Ruck, and
followed up immediately with the Sasore Gatame (which he was able to apply
surprisingly easily, given the size of Yakuza's legs) for the huge win.
- There are a bunch of new music videos up in the Multimedia section from VCW's
music video contest. The top three were Shocker333's, Matt Maverick's, and
J*Spyder's. But there were a lot of other good ones, so check 'em all out.
- Jacob Myles has been diagnosed with a fractured wrist which he will need
surgery on (which is why he has been out since losing the Canadian Title to Big
Al in November). Hopefully he can get back ASAP. Daniel Makabe also hurt his
hand/wrist last week in the Iron Man Match, but will hopefully be wrestling this
weekend.

- Well, the updates are getting slightly more frequent, which is always a good
sign. First show we need to tell you about is Survival of the Illest 2006, which
saw Daniel Makabe, Nick Price (in a big win over PSYCH), Big Al, Yakuza J, and
Special K advance in the qualify round. The sixth qualifying match was a rematch
from last year, in Scott Henson vs. Chicho. Henson once again hit the Canadian
Destroyer on Chicho, but instead of going for the pin, Henson attacked Chicho
with a turnbuckle hook, and then Ruckus's kendo, causing Henson to be
disqualified and leaving Chicho in no condition to have another match, thus
making the elimination finals a 5-Way rather than the standard 6-Way. Special K
was the first one out, after being horrendously ganged-up on by everyone. After
that, the match almost evolved into a tag match between Nick Price & Big Al vs.
Daniel Makabe and Yakuza J (who are the only two people to be in both Survival
of the Illest matches). Al and Nick were able to get rid of Yakuza J with a
combination POUNCE/Busaiku Knee, but seconds later, Al was rolled up by Daniel
Makabe and was eliminated. This left Nick Price and Daniel Makabe, who went
another 15 minutes on top of the 25 minutes the match had already gone (not to
mention their previous matches). After failed interference by Yakuza J, Nick
Price was able to pick his spot, and finished off Daniel Makabe with a 450
Splash to win Survival of the Illest 2006. This marks the second straight time
that a relative underdog has beaten Daniel Makabe in the finals. The following
week saw a double-shot on the weekend of the 28th and 29th. On Saturday, we saw
Big Al make his third successful defense of the Canadian Title, as he defeated
Special K with the Allen Key, the same move that got him the win at the 200th
show. Earlier in the day, Scott Henson was checking his text messages and found
one from estranged partner Lenny D. Henson was so taken aback by Lenny's
reaching out, that the two ending up patching up their differences and reforming
their team, the Miracle Violence Conspiracy. They wanted to show the world they
were back, and to do so, challenged their arch rivals, Yakuza J and Daniel
Makabe, to a 60 Minute Iron Man Match the next day. On Saturday, both teams had
warm-up matches, with Henson & Lenny defeating Nick Price and Zeus McFly, and
Yakuza & Makabe defeating OCW's New New Midnight Express (Ryan Rage & Tiger J).
The second day of the double-shot saw the New New Midnight Express back in
action again, taking on Canadian Champion Big Al and, returning from his one
month absence, Triple Crown Champion Ruckus. Ryan Rage and Tiger J are also
singles wrestling champions, as Rage is the OCW Metal Crown Champion, and Tiger
J is the OCW Canadian Champion, and ALL belts were on the line in this tag
match, meaning whoever was pinned would lose his belt to whoever pinned him. The
end came after Big Al and Ruckus hit the Fraser River Plunge on Rage & Tiger
STACKED on top of each other, with Big Al pinning BOTH of them to win both of
their titles for himself. Next up was a variation on a match originally
scheduled for the 200th show that never happened: the Taped Date Match, wherein
the losing team had to go on a taped date. The first team was Team Redic,
comprised of Zeus McFly, Kingpin, and Special K. The second team was Ryan
Briggs, Nick Price, and, uh... Pistol Pete Cruise. Well, he WAS Pistol Pete
Cruise. After months of hinting at it and dropping allusions, Mr. Cruise dropped
all pretense and came out (LITERALLY) as Pistol Pete HARD GAY. His blatantly
homosexual antics disturbed both his teammates and opponents, but also somehow
rubbed off on them. By the end of the match, it was less a wrestling contest,
and more a gay porno, and the ref double-DQ'ed everyone because it was just too
gay, meaning ALL SIX of the competitors must go on a taped date. The main event
was the previously mentioned 60 Minute Iron Man Match between the BTM and the
MVC. BTM got off to a quick 2-0 lead after a German Suplex by Yakuza on Henson
and a John Woo on by Makabe on Lenny OFF OF Yakuza. MVC got it to 2-1 with a
Henson CRITICAL! on Yakuza. Then probably the craziest thing ever in an Iron Man
happened, as Makabe and Lenny traded pins fish-out-of-water style, only instead
of 2-counts as is the case in most matches, every pin attempt resulted in a 3
count! By the end of it, it was 5-4 for the BTM. Scott Henson tied it up 5-5
with a Screwdriver Emerald Frosion on Daniel Makabe after a failed You Sunk My
Battleship attempt. Lenny D got his team ahead for the first time in the match
with a flying jujigatame on Yakuza J, which injured Yakuza's arm, incapacitating
him for the rest of the match. This left Makabe alone in a two-on-one situation,
but he somehow tied it back up to 6-6 after rolling up Henson with the
Messenger. With 10 seconds left, Henson hit an insane CRITICAL! on Makabe, but
couldn't make the pin before the time expired. Henson, and even the injured
Yakuza J, wanted the match to go to sudden death because they wanted a winner,
but their parters, Lenny and Makabe, wanted to go home and fight another day. So
6-6 was the final score in VCW's longest match ever.
- The 2005 VCW Awards are now up in full in the Mad VCW Info section. The Awards
Benefit and Gala was held on the night of January 29, after the show. There was
joy, there were tears, and there was a 23 minute clip package.
