- Backyard Fest 7 thoughts

- Well, for the 0 of you that didn't already know: Scott Henson, Daniel Makabe, and Yakuza J are headed off to Ohio tomorrow for Backyard Fest 7, hosted by GEW and HWF. On Day 1 of the two-day extravaganza, Scott Henson will be taking on Devilman (a.k.a. Russell Myers), Daniel Makabe will be taking on LK2000, and Yakuza is against a big-time mystery opponent. We don't know what's up for Day 2 yet, but there is rumor of a randomly-drawn 8-man tag tournament. We'll do our best to post results in the next few days, but don't expect much (if any) media, because it's being saved for the DVD release.

- Hey, whaddya know, we had a show. Booking got switched around a bit, but it was still good. Lenny D once again douched out, leaving him vs. Yakuza J's 2-of-3 Falls match for another day. In his place, Jimmy McGimmick stepped. McGimmick nearly had it won several times, throwing everything he had at him, but in the end the Gimmick Bomb was reversed into a beautiful German Suplex for the win. Just before this match, we opened up with what may have been the biggest abortion of a Triple Crown Match ever. Nearly half an hour of Six Man Mayhem ridiculousness. Some good spots, though, so it wasn't all for naught. After a crazy Standing Double Yangtime by Chris Mason, both he and Psychotic Kid pinned Jesus McFly. So Mason retains his title, but Psychotic Kid certainly has claim to it now. The two have agreed to a title match in the near future. Also on the card was Jimmy Dean vs. Scott Idol in a rematch of the match where Jimmy dislocated his shoulder. Luckily, both men were able to avoid any injuries in this one. As it looked like Jimmy Dean had it wrapped up, he went for the One Way Ticket to Dreamland (Rocker Dropper), Idol was able to counter with a move that would later be dubbed "Not Without My Anus", which appeared to be some sort of Half-nelson Cradle Sitdown Atomic Drop. The main event was Jesus McFly taking on "Experimental Phase" Scott Henson for the YOH Title. Henson dubbed this as something of a "Wrestling Move Idol" match, as he planned on trying out numerous new moves, and whichever got the best reaction he would permanently add to his moveset. The two best reaction-getters were the Roderick Strong Fireman's Carry Falling Gutbuster (which we have been told Henson has officially named "Ka-Blamo"), and the move he won with, the Barry White Driver (Gory Special Piledriver). Henson's Rubick's Cube (Electric Chair Storm Cradle Driver) also got a big pop, but when asked if he'd keep it on as a regular move, Henson responded, "Can one guy have THAT many spots?"
- Scott Henson, Daniel Makabe, and Yakuza J will be gone next weekend, and Lenny D will likely not be in town. Nevertheless, it sounds like a show is being run, and it will be the first Four-Horsemen-less show in VCW's 113 show history.
- Also, the following weekend (July 31 & August 1), Scott Henson will be out of town. He feels that back-to-back shows without his presence will cause VCW's popularity to plummet and that VCW will have no choice but to close down. We shall see if he's right... or if he's totally full of shit.

- Well, that might just have been our best show ever. If not, it was damn close. 10 matches in all, and no bad ones. Everyone was on tonight. I could write a long paragraph (or more) for every match, but by the end of it, I'd be tired, you'd be tired, and hey, nobody wants that. Pretty much everyone in the world was at the show, so I don't really need to tell you what happened anyway. If you need to know, check the Results section. Suffice it to say, Chris Mason successfully defended the Triple Crown twice, Kristian Drake made his return after 13+ months, Jimmy Dean had his first match back since his injury on 5/24/04, Scott Henson/Yakuza J and Daniel Makabe/Psychotic Kid were awesome matches, and Lenny D was nowhere to be found (Kristian Drake took his place). Also, it appears that VCW has three new full-time members (in addition to the returning Kristian Drake): Jimmy Dean, The G.O.A.T. James Blade, and Raidos. In the main event, Daniel Makabe won the VCW Canadian Title in an amazing Ladder Match. Psychotic Kid has challenged Makabe to an immediate rematch in another Ladder Match for next week, as he feels he can beat him. Makabe has accepted.
