- Really thought there had already been an update after Best of the Rest, but
apparently not. So let's get to it. Lenny D could only make it for Stage Two of
the supershow, and thus could not be in the actual Best of the Rest tournament.
This led to a qualifying match for Lenny's spot between PSYCH and Mercury. PSYCH
was originally not scheduled to be on the show due to injuries, otherwise he
would have already been in the tournament, being a two-time WINNER of Best of
the Rest and all. Mercury was able to gain the upset win and advance to the
tournament. Nick Price was also not on the show, leading to his tag partner,
Drew Sarian, taking his spot at Nick's request. Also pre-tournament, Jacob Myles
made his last defense of the Canadian Title before facing the winner BOTR,
taking on Drew Sarian and getting the victory. Post-match, Invisible Chicho ran
in on the match, and an impromptu second title defense between Myles and Chicho
started. Myles got another win and another title defense with his new "911 x
1000" maneuver (basically a Chokeslam-style Rock Bottom), giving Myles good
momentum going into his title defense versus the BOTR winner at Stage Two. Then
came the tournament. Via Lethal Lottery, the following teams were picked: Ruckus
& Zeus McFly, Daniel Makabe & Big Al, Special K & Mercury, and Scott Henson &
Drew Sarian. The first two teams met in the first tournament match, with Makabe
getting the pin for his team with a huge Top-rope Senton on Zeus McFly. Despite
winning, Makabe and Al did not work well together at all. In the second
tournament match, both Drew Sarian and Mercury got injured and taken out early
in the match, leading to basically a singles match between Scott Henson and
Special K, which Scott Henson won with a second-rope John Walters, after Sarian
was able to make it back in to Superkick Special K. The semifinals saw Daniel
Makabe and Big Al take on Scott Henson and Drew Sarian, but Sarian was unable to
compete due to injuries sustained in the previous match. Luckily, Nick Price
(who was originally supposed to be in Sarian's spot) made it to the show just in
time and took his place. Makabe and Big Al got their second win of the night
after Scott Henson was taken out with a John Woo/POUNCE combo, and Al had the
Sharpshooter locked on Nick Price. Makabe actually distracted the ref, allowing
him to tag himself in, and get the win HIMSELF with the Makabe Lock 3.141592654.
Makabe and Al worked together a little better here, but, as you can tell from
the finish, still not super cooperatively. That didn't matter, as the tag
portion of the tournament was done, and they were to meet each other in the
finals. No ordinary finals, though, as this was our take on "Spin the Wheel,
Make the Deal": "Don't Be a Tard, Pick a Card." The card picked was possibly the
most dangerous of all matches, and has never been done before inside a VCW ring:
the Coal Miner's Glove Match. So, attached high above the ring on a pole, the
Coal Miner's Glove loomed ominously above Daniel Makabe and Big Al, as they met
in the finals of our fifth annual Best of the Rest. As Makabe was going for a
superplex, Al took a spill to the floor, taking the pole and glove with him.
Makabe was the first to retrieve it, but was reversed by Al, who nailed Makabe
with the glove, presumably knocking him out, to the pinfall, the Best of the
Rest crown, and a Canadian Title shot the next day. Speaking of which, the Jacob
Myles vs. Big Al title defense, was scheduled to be the main event of Stage Two,
but Myles came out at the beginning of the show, slightly upset that he had
asked Al to lay down and Al had refused. Myles wanted the match right away, and
got it. This was another Don't Be a Tard, Pick a Card match, and Myles, the
champion, had picked "Dealer's Choice" meaning he could pick any match he
wanted. He opted for VCW's first even indoor Ladder Match. To say Myles and Al
pulled out all the stops is to put it lightly. Two ladders came into play, as
well as several tables. After 20 minutes of ladder-related ridiculousness, Myles
got his leg caught in the ladder that he and Al were fighting atop, allowing Al
to climb the final few rungs, and retrieve the title. What a weekend for Al: on
Saturday, he snaps his nearly 6-month losing streak, defying all the critics,
wins Best of the Rest V, and then less than 24 hours later, claims his title
shot, and wins, getting his first taste of gold in VCW. On Sunday at Stage Two,
we also saw Special K take on Zeus McFly, where K gave McFly an atomic drop onto
an open chair with a TACK on it, leading to his win via the Rectal Claw. Scott
Henson took on Nick Price, who he partly blamed for losing in the semifinals of
Best of the Rest the day before. A great back and forth match that saw Price try
to kick Scott's head in, which ended with Price going for a Top-rope Northern
Lights Bomb, only for Scott to reverse it into a Top-rope Screwdriver Emerald
Frosion (which he dubbed "You Sunk My Spanish Armada") for the win. The main
event was Lenny D challenging Ruckus for the Triple Crown, with quite an
exchange of words between the two pre-match. Lenny is bitter toward Ruckus, as
Ruckus never bet Lenny for the title (Russell Myers won it from Lenny at
Backyard Fest, and lost it to Ruckus a day later). Ruckus, of course, blames
Lenny for letting the belt slip into enemy hands in the first place. It looked
like Lenny was going to go 2-0 against Ruckus in singles competition and win
back the belt after a huge Super Backdrop which completely crunched Ruckus, but
when Lenny went for a Wildbomb to finish the job, Ruckus was able to reverse
into a Code Ruck and retain his title, rounding out an excellent day of
wrestling. Then this past Sunday, Nov. 27, we were "Black By Popular Demand."
Mercury and PSYCH had a rematch from their BOTR Qualifier, with PSYCH getting
the win this time with a Black Tiger Bomb. In honor of Survivor Series, which
was going on on the same day, we had a mini 2-on-2 Survivor Series match, with
the Fabulous Newton Boys of Ruckus & Big Al (who, incidentally, now hold all the
gold in VCW) taking on Nick Price and Scott Henson, who fought each other one
week prior. Al was the first eliminated with a Shining Wizard from Nick Price.
After a sequence with Scott Henson, Ruckus was able to get the pin with a Code
Ruckus, leaving Ruckus vs. Nick Price. Though Price gave it his all, the champ
came out victorious with a DVD onto the knee right into a Tombstone.
- December is a big month for VCW with shows on Dec. 4, 11, 18, and 27.
Additionally, LWO will be up here on Dec. 20 for a big supershow of theirs,
featuring the VCW roster as well. And then on Dec. 30, we have our 200TH SHOW!
Don't know how it came around so fast, but here it is. No card is set yet, but
will be in the coming weeks. And right after that show, voting for the 2005 VCW
Awards begins, with the awards ceremony being held in mid-January.

- Had us a sort-of double shot (Friday & Sunday) this past weekend, with an even
bigger one next weekend (Best of the Rest V). Friday started out with an insane
promo with Nick Price, getting HEY!ed by Daniel Makabe, who surprised everyone
with his new lack of hair, and going on some crazy rant, which segued into the
cameraman being lucky enough to find Special K in his natural habitat, who then
got startled and ran off. It, uh, makes more sense if you watch it rather than
read it. In the opener, Scott Henson took on Big Al in their first singles match
in over 6 months, and Scott got his payback win with a HEY! Next was Part III of
Special K vs. Drew Sarian, in probably their best match yet, with Special K
getting the win in the rubber match with his new Darkness Buster. The main event
was a 3 Way between Daniel Makabe, Nick Price, and Ryan Rage, who made the trek
down from Osoyoos. Rage in fact got the win with a huge running knee strike
(than re-opened Makabe's wounds from last month's Bullrope Match) while Makabe
was going for a Trapper Keeper on Nick Price. On Sunday morning, we were all
shocked to read that Eddy Guerrero, one of the few remaining reasons to watch
the WWE, met his untimely death just hours earlier. We carried on with the show,
changing the name to the Eddy Guerrero Memorial Show, with many VCW wrestlers
doing tributes to Eddy in their matches, and finishing the show with a 10-bell
salute to Eddy Guerrero, one of the best wrestlers ever.
- As mentioned before, we've got our two-day supershow, Best of the Rest V,
coming up this weekend. As tradition goes, it is once again some sort of
tournament involving the Canadian Title. This year, four teams will be randomly
selected from eight VCW wrestlers. These four teams will have a tournament, with
the members of the winning team facing each other. The winner of that will be
this year's Best of the Rest and will receive a VCW Canadian Title shot. Unlike
previous years BOTR winners, this year's winner won't have to wait months or
even weeks to claim that title shot, as he will receive it the very next day, at
Stage Two of Best of the Rest V. Additionally, to make things even crazier, the
finals of BOTR as well as the Canadian Title match the next day, will both be
"Spin the Wheel, Make the Deal" gimmick matches, with random stipulations chosen
for each match. The eight participants in this year's BOTR are: Scott Henson,
Lenny D, Daniel Makabe, Ruckus, Nick Price, Special K, Big Al, and Zeus McFly.
Here's a quick look back at previous BOTR winners:
-- BOTR I (2001): Bromine defeated Scott Henson in the finals to win the vacant
VCW Canadian Title
-- BOTR II (2002): Psychotic Kid defeated Chris Mason & Zeus McFly in a Gauntlet
Match to retain the VCW Canadian Title
-- BOTR III (2003): Psychotic Kid defeated Daniel Makabe in the finals to earn a
VCW Canadian Title shot (claimed on 2/21/04, which he won)
-- BOTR IV (2004): Chris Mason defeated Scott Henson in the finals to earn a VCW
Canadian Title shot (claimed on 1/30/05, which he lost)
The current Vegas odds for this year's BOTR winner look like this:
Scott Henson - 2:1
Ruckus - 5:2
Daniel Makabe - 5:2
Lenny D - 3:1
Nick Price - 4:1
Zeus McFly - 6:1
Big Al - 13:2
Special K - 8:1
But of course a lot depends on how the teams turn out.

- Had a small show yesterday, where the unlikely trio of The Fabulous Newton
Boys (Ruckus & Big Al) and Daniel Makabe lost to the silliest team ever,
Kingpin, Zeus McFly, and Special K. Daniel Makabe never got along with his
partners, especially Big Al, and ended up giving Al a Trapper Keeper on the
floor and leaving. This left Ruckus vulnerable to a Fecalator/Springboard
Footstomp combo by Kingpin and McFly, with Kingpin getting the pin. In other,
possibly bigger, news, two VCW members were at the Backyard Experience 3000
supershow in Rhode Island, those being Yakuza J and Mercury. Mercury was set up
with one of the biggest opportunities of his career, as he challenged Omega for
the ESW World Title, probably the second most highly regarded active title in
backyard wrestling. Omega was able to retain with a Trapper Keeper, however, but
Mercury put up an excellent fight. This also marked Mercury's return to the ring
from his stinger at last month's supershow. Yakuza J took on Drew Cordeiro in
the main event of Day 1 of the show, in what was said to be a brutal 26+ minute
match. Yakuza got the win in the end with the Jumping High Kick. On Day 2,
Yakuza took on a mystery opponent, who turned out to be Myke Fucking Quest, who
had supposedly retired from backyard wrestling the week before. In Quest's REAL
retirement match before he heads to the pros full time, he got the win with an
impressive Package German Suplex. This marks Yakuza J's FIRST EVER loss outside
of VCW. Well, if someone had to beat him, we're glad it was Quest. Yakuza's road
record is now a dismal 18-1.

- Seemed to forget an update somewhere in there. Nevermind, we'll do it now. On
Monday, October 10, we had a quickie show where the New Thrillseekers (Drew
Sarian & Nick Price) got a win over Zeus McFly and Special K. On Sunday, October
16, we set out to have a regular show and ended up having one of our best shows
of the year, Not a bad match to be found on the card. Special K got a big
singles win over Big Al in a short but very entertaining encounter. Nick Price
and Zeus McFly had a nice little match, with McFly getting the win with the
ridiculous Suspended Dragon Sleeper Indian Deathlock he used on Price in the tag
match the week before. Days later, Price challenged McFly to a rematch, which he
accepted. Next, we figured it was about that time of year for Daniel Makabe and
PSYCH to have another match. What we didn't count on was that they would go to
the second 30 minute time limit draw in VCW's history, with the time expiring
just before Makabe could hit the Trapper Keeper. They are also scheduled for a
rematch (2-of-3 Falls with no time limit, no less), currently slated for
11/6/05. The main event was Jacob Myles defending his Canadian Title against
Scott Henson in a wickedly entertaining match with an excellent mix of both
humor and big-time spots. Myles combined two of the biggest maneuvers he's ever
done, as he hit the Myle High Club off the apron to the floor, and immediately
followed up with the insane Top-to-floor Swanton. Not long after, Myles was able
to surprise Henson with a Victory Roll for the win. Our show scheduled for
Saturday, October 22 was cancelled, as some folks managed to break the ring.
Luckily the ring was back ready to go for our Halloween show, "Blood Orgy", on
Sunday, October 30. Seeing as it was Halloween, Daniel Makabe decided to rummage
through Scott Henson's bag and dress as Henson for Halloween. Henson did not get
the memo, however, and was forced to wear Makabe's rather foul-smelling gear, as
it was the only gear left in the locker room. Makabe won a 3 Way Dance over Big
Al and Red Money (in an excellent Batman costume) with a backslide on Big Al.
Scott Henson, in Makabe's blue tights, took on Special K in a good match, with
Henson eventually getting the win with a big HEY! Nick Price (dressed as Triple
Crown Champion Ruckus) and Zeus McFly had
their rematch from last show, this time a Texas Death Match. The two brawled all
over the Wrestleplex, with Price hitting a Superfly Splash off the balcony, and
getting the win with a gross kick to the head of McFly, after several equally
devastating strike combos immediately preceding it. As a side note,
computer-simmed 8-man battle royals in Fire Pro R for PS2 with everyone picking
one player to win are INCREDIBLY FUN.
