- This past Saturday served as a prelude to Sunday's supershow, as Daniel Makabe
took on Big Al, tag partner of Ruckus, who Makabe would be taking on the next
day for the Triple Crown. Barely two minutes into the match, Makabe attacked Al
with a bullrope (complete with cowbell) behind the ref's back, and got the win,
making this the fourth straight victory Makabe holds over Al. Also, the impact
from the cowbell busted Al's head open, requiring him to get 4 stitches on the
top of his head. Saturday's other match was the Miracle Violence Conspiracy of
Scott Henson and Lenny D taking on the rather random team of Nick Price and
PSYCH. When it looked like the MVC had it wrapped up, there was a major
miscommunication between the two of them, resulting in an accidental CRITICAL!
from Henson to Lenny, leading to Henson getting pinned. Post-match, the two
exchanged harsh words, with Henson calling Lenny on the fact that he's never
around, and now that he is around, he's ruined Henson's 200th match (which,
incidentally, this was). Lenny had none of it and walked off. Sunday was the
main attraction, as Big Al took on Canadian Champion Jacob Myles for the title
in a 2-of-3 Falls Match spread out over the card, with the stipulations for each
fall being a Finishers Match, Mortal Kombat Rules Match, and a Dance-Off. The
events that transpired are too surreal and ridiculous to try to put into text
form, so you'll have to wait for some video. Suffice to say, Jacob Myles and Big
are now friends, and Myles retained the Canadian Title due to a No Contest in
the third fall. After refusing bribes of both money and Burger King food,
Kingpin got the win over Pistol Pete Cruise with the tried and true Fecalator.
Pete was also on the receiving end of a Urine Mist after the match. Red Money
won a 3 Way Dance over Mercury and Special K, which saw an extremely scary
moment, as after Money pinned Mercury with the Backdrop Piledriver, Mercury was
unable to get up. This marked the first time an ambulance needed to be called to
a VCW event. We weren't sure of the seriousness of the injury, but it's always
better to play it safe. It turned out to be a stinger (spinal bruise), so
hopefully we'll see Mercury back in the near future, and we wish him the
speediest of recoveries. Zeus McFly took on PSYCH in a rematch from the previous
week, this time with McFly edging out the win with the old-school Lukey Driver.
This match saw two ridiculous spots, which actually came back-to-back. PSYCH
smoked McFly with full-on guitar shot in mid-tope, and then hit a springboard
somersault plancha to McFly, who was sitting on the couch. The New New Midnight
Express made their VCW return, taking on Nick Price in what appeared to be a
handicap match, as Price's partner, Drew Sarian, was not there. However, Sarian
made a Sabu-esque entrance late in the match, leading to victory for Price and
Sarian, the New Thrillseekers. In the semi-main, tag partners and VCW's only
officially recognized couple, Scott Henson and Lenny D, went at it one on one.
Pre-match, they agreed that Henson would not be allowed to do the You Sunk My
Battleship, and Lenny would not be able to do the Wildbomb. They also agreed
that if Henson won, the MVC would break up, and that if Lenny won, the MVC would
break up (yeah, you read that right). The two put on an excellent, hard-hitting
match, which saw Henson hit a Mike Awesome-esque apron-to-floor powerbomb
through a table on Lenny, but it still wasn't enough. After Henson miscued and
CRITICAL!ed the ref, Lenny took the opportunity to hit the Wildbomb, following
up with a big flurry of offence, culminating in an impressive Tombstone and a
Dragon Clutch for the victory. Lenny then made it abundantly clear to the camera
and crowd that he had just beaten the BYWL's #1 guy, and that he was the new top
dog. In the main event, Ruckus defended the Triple Crown against Daniel Makabe
in VCW's first ever bullrope match. Major blood on both parties, especially
Makabe, and an insane apron-to-floor German through a table by Ruckus. At the
end of the match, both men dragged each other around the ring, each managing to
touch 3 of the 4 corners. As they struggled to touch the fourth corner, Ruckus,
out of nowhere hit the Code Ruck on Makabe into the corner, smacking the fourth
turnbuckle in the process. Initially, there was some controversy between VCW
officials over who touched the corner first, but it was eventually conclusively
determined that it was indeed Ruckus, who got his V5 title defense.
