- Luckily, there is less to write than last time. We had a nice little show on
Saturday. Unfortunately, Lenny D was unable to make it to defend the Triple
Crown against Psychotic Kid, so Kid took on Zeus McFly instead. Fairly early on,
Kid completely crushed McFly with a Swanton Bomb, knocking the wind out of him,
which was enough for the surprise pinfall. Drew Sarian and Nick Price recreated
the Ultimate Warrior/Hulk Hogan match from Wrestlemania 6 in an awesome match.
Sarian even went as far as to bust out the TASSLES~! for his "Ultimate Sarian"
ring attire. Post-match, Mercury ran in, but was defeated by Sarian in under 10
seconds with an IRISH WHIP~! Yes, you read that right. Zeus McFly defeated "Meth
Dealer" Scott Henson with the Camel Clutch II (Camel Clutch using his legs), and
will receive a Canadian Title shot next show for it.The main event was Chris
Mason claiming his Canadian Title shot from his Best of the Rest 4 win. Mason
and Daniel Makabe went at it hard, and despite a bit of interference from
Mason's partner, Psychotic Kid, Makabe was able to retain his title with a
RIDONKULOUS Top-rope Trapper Keeper Bomb. Makabe now looks ahead to Zeus McFly
next week.
- Chris Mason is having surgery on his thumb and ankle this week, and will
likely be out of action for 3-4 weeks. He will still attend shows for moral
support. Mason = trooper. Psychotic Kid also has a broken finger, and may need
it operated on, so he may be out of commission for a week or two as well. We
wish both members of Flip 420 speedy recoveries from their respective injuries.
- LOTS of new full matches up in the media section. The three VCW-related
matches from HWF's last show on 10/24/04, as well as FIVE new VCW matches from
the last month or so. The HWF matches aren't commentated, but all the VCW ones
are. We've got Scott Henson vs. Chris Mason from 12/22/04, Daniel Makabe vs.
Chicho from 1/2/05, Yakuza J vs. Chris Mason from 1/2/05, Lenny D & Scott Henson
vs. Yakuza J & Daniel Makabe from 1/14/05, and Lenny D vs. Yakuza J from
1/15/05. So check 'em out. Some definite early MOTYC's in there.

- Damn, lots to write about. I guess that's what happens when you let two
double-shots and an awards show go by. So let's tackle them one by one, shall
we?
- 1/8/05: Survival of the Illest. Due to weather conditions, Lenny D was unable
to make it to either day of the double-shot this weekend, postponing the 2-of-3
falls tag yet another week. Anyway, the concept of this show was to have 6
singles matches, and then a 6 Way match featuring all the winners to determine
the illest member of VCW. Scott Henson, Chris Mason, Jacob Myles, Daniel Makabe,
Yakuza J, and Zeus McFly made it to the 6 Way, and it came down to Daniel Makabe
and, surprisingly, underdog Jacob Myles. They went back and forth for 10+
minutes (this is after all the other eliminations in the match), with Myles
eventually hitting the Myle High Club to pin the Canadian Champion and become
the undisputed illest member of VCW. In addition to the Myle High Club, the
spots of the night were definitely Scott Henson's Canadian Destroyer on Chicho,
and Yakuza J's Steiner Screwdriver on Psychotic Kid.
- 1/9/05: Fuckin' Nazis, Jews, Jesus, and Jushin Liger. As the name implies,
this was quite the wacky show. Drew Sarian debuted his "Drew Jack" persona,
which was promptly banned from VCW after the match, after he put a hole in the
wall. Zeus McFly defeated the Nazi/Jew odd couple of Adolf (Sean) Sylum and "The
Dradle" Nick Price, which included a Diving Footstomp to the floor through a
table. Jacob Myles continued his winning ways, upsetting Scott Henson. In the
semi-main, VCW was able to pool its funds and book Jushin "Thunder" Liger from
New Japan Pro Wrestling to wrestle Big Al for the YOH Title, which he defeated
him for with a Running Ligerbomb. In the main, the now-full-time team of Chris
Mason and Psychotic Kid, Flip 420, were able to score what some would call an
upset over the Bubble Tea Mafia of Daniel Makabe and Yakuza J.
- 1/14/05: A Family Affair 2005. Lenny D made it! Before we get to the main, it
should be noted that this show marked the introduction of a new match concept in
VCW: the Dogfight. It's a match involving 3 wrestlers. Two have a singles match,
and whoever loses is replaced by the third person. This continues until one
person scores two pinfalls in a row, and he is declared the winner. The first
ever VCW Dogfight took place between Zeus McFly, Ruckus, and Big Al, with Ruckus
getting the win. Then the much-anticipated main event. The 2-of-3 Falls tag
match between Scott Henson/Lenny D and Daniel Makabe/Yakuza J. This did not
disappoint. Henson & Yakuza started out, and Yakuza rudely interrupted Henson's
chain wrestling with a German Suplex Hold, scoring the first fall 30 seconds
into the match. Things slowed down a bit after that, and the Bubble Tea Mafia
made their game plan known: work Henson's leg and work Lenny's neck. It was all
going quite well, but Lenny was able to fight back and hit a killer piledriver
on Yakuza J to even the falls at 1-1. Things continued to heat up in the third
fall, and after some of the craziest closing minutes you'll ever see, Lenny D
reversed Daniel Makabe's 20 Years Old attempt and hit the Darkness Dust into the
Dragon Clutch. While Scott Henson subdued Yakuza J on the outside, Makabe was
forced to tap out on the inside, giving the match to Lenny & Henson, the Miracle
Violence Conspiracy. Some are calling this the best VCW match ever. Only time
will tell.
- 1/15/05: No Soup for Us. We were informed that Larry Thomas, the "Soup Nazi"
of Seinfeld fame, would be making an appearence in New Westminster. We decided
to check it out and see if we could get him to say something on camera. We got
there with 40 left in his appearence, and with a line about 2 hours long.
Needless to say, it was a bit of a lost cause, so we got a couple quick, blurry
shots of the Soup Nazi, and one really good shot of an 8x10 of his that someone
got. Jushin Liger returned to VCW to defend his YOH Title, but for the first
time ever... in a Battle Royal. Anyone who pins the champion in the Battle Royal
becomes the new champion, until there is only one person left, who, of course,
would be the champion. Red Money was eliminated almost immediately, but then
threw a tequila bottle at Jushin Liger (and everyone knows tequila bottles are
Liger's kryptonite), knocking him down and actually pinning him, making the
tequila bottle the new YOH Champion. There were numerous other pins and title
changes (12 to be exact), with many interesting characters briefly holding the
title, including Disco Dradle Dragon, Tiger Mask V, I.Q. Yarder, and Invisible
Chicho. The last person left was Mercury, making him the first ever two-time
champion. However, while hoisting the belt over his head, Mercury was crushed
under its weight, and the YOH Title belt pinned him to become the YOH Champion.
With the YOH Title as the YOH Champion, the YOH title defenses could, of course,
not continue, and the title was sealed FO'-EVA. It's been a good run. The main
event, stemmed from the previous day's tag match, was another 2-of-3 Falls
match, this time between Lenny D and Yakuza J for the VCW Triple Crown Title.
Much as in the tag match, Yakuza scored the first pin fairly early on with a
German Suplex Hold. After a lot more back-and-forth between the two, Lenny
evened it up with a pinfall via Darkness Dust. The third fall saw both guys go
fucking crazy, as Lenny attacked Yakuza with a 2x4, eventually getting it kicked
into his own head, opening up a huge gash. Lenny, not being a stranger to blood
loss, ignored it, and rammed Yakuza's head into the ring post, opening up a cut
on his head too. After 10 minutes of hellacious, bloody strikes (bar none the
hardest in VCW history), Lenny D was able to lock on the Dragon Clutch after
several attempts, and Yakuza J, bleeding heavily, passed out in the hold, giving
Lenny the Triple Crown victory.
- Awards Show. After the show on 1/15/05, VCW held its 2004 Awards Benefit and
Gala, only 5 months after the 2003 Awards show, which was held in August 2004
(hopefully they'll all be in January from now on). Obviously we don't need to go
through all the award winners, as they can all be easily found in the Mad VCW
Info section, along with three new year-end clip packages (these can also be
found in the Multimedia section). VCW's equivalent of Best Picture, Match of the
Year, went to Scott Henson and Daniel Makabe's 2-of-3 Falls encounter from
5/8/04.
- Yakuza J has headed back east for an all-expense-paid learning excursion
courtesy of VCW management. He is expected back in May, better than ever.
<1/3/05 @ 4:11 AM PST>
- Freedom Costs a Buck '05 kicked off the year for us. Psychotic Kid took the
overall win in the opening 4 Way, but Sean Sylum walked away with the YOH Title
by pinning Drew Sarian. "Unwelcome Houseguest" Scott Henson beat the shit out of
Mercury, but got too cocky and had his small package reversed to give Mercury
the win. And the double main event definitely delivered. First off, Daniel
Makabe retained his Canadian Title against Lil Chicho, after somersaulting off
the second rope directly into the Makabe Lock, forcing Chicho to tap. In match 2
of the double main, Yakuza J and Chris Mason had their first high profile
singles match since... ever. Somehow these two have barely crossed paths,
despite being together in the fed since spring 2001. Mason, despite a size
disadvantage, hit Yakuza with a bunch of offence. Yakuza, no slouch himself,
came at Mason hard, going for the win with a German Suplex rolled to a Dragon
Suplex rolled to a Northern Lights Bomb, but when hit the particularly nasty
NLB, Mason actually bounced off his head and onto Yakuza in pinning position.
Yakuza was unable to get the 170-pound dead weight of Mason off him in three
seconds, thus giving Mason the victory. This surely shoots Chris Mason up in the
title contender rankings.
- We will be doing a double-shot on Saturday and Sunday of next weekend.
Saturday is Survival of the Illest, where there will be six singles matches, and
a 6-Way involving the winners of those matches. Sunday will have the
much-anticipated Miracle Violence Conspiracy vs. Bubble Tea Mafia 2-of-3 Falls
Match, amongst other matches.
- As promised, all the bios are now completely up to date, including pictures
for EVERYONE for the first time in history.
- The Awards voting continues, with some ballots already in. Get yours in by
January 10th. VOTE OR DIE, MOTHERFUCKER, VOTE OR DIE.
<1/2/05 @ 4:11 AM PST>
- VCW closed out the year with Shitstorm 2004. We found out the reason for
Ruckus's absence the last couple shows was due to a jaw injury suffered from
Daniel Makabe's Curb Stomp on 12/22/04. The main event of the show, and thus the
main event OF 2004 was a big-time encounter between tag partners Yakuza J &
Daniel Makabe. The two took an old-style approach to their match, with Yakuza
coming out on top with a nasty high-angle boston crad. VCW kicks off 2005 with a
show tomorrow (technically later today), with a potentially excellent double
main event of Yakuza J vs. Chris Mason, and Daniel Makabe vs. Lil Chicho for the
Canadian Title.
- After tomorrow's show, expect some large-ish updates to the bios.
- The big news is that with the last show of 2004, the 2004 VCW Awards voting is
now open. The ballot can be found in the Mad VCW Info section. Send all ballots
to tigreblanco@shaw.ca by 11:30 p.m.
PST on January 10th, 2005.
