- Wow, how did we possibly go this long without updating? It's not like we've
been doing less shows; we've just been telling you about them less. So let's get
to it. When last we left our heroes, we were one show past Best of the Rest V,
which leaves all of December and half of January, so excuse any excessive
brevity for the sake of keeping this readable in one sitting. Nothing huge
happened in December, so we'll go through it pretty quick. December 4th saw
Scott Henson and Nick Price teaming again as they did the previous week and at
Best of the Rest V Stage One, and they got the win over Big Al and Special K on
this particular outing. Also on the card, Zeus McFly and Daniel Makabe, who were
born on the lucha and raised on the lucha respectively, had themselves, what
else, a lucha match. The John Woo was Makabe's M.O., getting him the first fall
in 30 seconds, and, used as an insane counter to a moonsault, got him the third
fall as well. December 11th saw Pistol Pete Cruise and Ryan Briggs back in
action, with Pete having many an awkward moment with Ryan backstage before they
tagged against Big Al and Zeus McFly. To their credit, though, they got the win,
so they must have had *some* chemistry (I'm sure Ryan would like that worded
differently). Next up, Scott Henson came out in his new tiger pants, expecting a
serious, high-profile match-up with perennial rival Daniel Makabe. Makabe, not
to be outdone in the gear department, came out in "apartment wrestling" gear
(white long johns with red shorts over them) and somehow goaded Henson into a
match he wasn't ready for. Makabe apartment wrestled the hell out of Henson, and
got the win with the #1 move in apartment wrestling, the headscissors. Ryan Rage
and Tiger J came down from OCW for a Falls-Count-Anywhere match which would
seemingly settle their on-and-off feud. Due to the stipulations, much of the
match took place on the outside. Rage did everything he could to Tiger J,
including ripping off his mask. Rage got the win with a high-angle Boston Crab
on top of the speed bags in the gym, after the two climbed up there from the
kickboxing ring. Crazy. But it did seem to settle their feud, and it looks like
the two will be teaming more regularly, rather than fighting. The 12/11/05 main
event was the first-time matchup of Lenny D and Nick Price, who fought for
Number One Chu-tendership, i.e. who would fight Yakuza J upon his return in a
couple weeks. Lenny D got the win by busting out the new move he promised, the
Black Thunder Bomb, which is basically a Fallaway Slam setup into an Inverted
Powerbomb. December 18th saw Daniel Makabe defeat Special K in a back-and-forth
match, as well as Big Al making his first successful defense of the Canadian
Title in a 3 Way with Nick Price and Scott Henson, winning with a Small Package
Cutback on Scott Henson after Price had been taken out. December 30th was our
last show of 2005, so we tried to make it a good one. Zeus McFly defeated
Mercury in a match where both tried some ridiculous stuff, much of which was
successful for them. If this match was any indication, the Ankle Lock is now
Mercury's premiere submission move, which is good, because he was lacking in the
submission aspect of his arsenal. Scott Henson and Nick Price were on opposite
sides of a tag match this time, with Henson paired with Special K, and Price
with his New Thrillseekers partner, Drew Sarian. Much of the match was spent
working on Henson's leg, but Henson was eventually able to make the big tag to
Special K. Henson got the pin on Nick Price with the Psycho Driver, Triple Crown
Champion Ruckus's number one move. It should be noted that earlier on the show,
Henson was talking about Ruckus, and how, though he basically likes him, he
doesn't really see Ruckus as a Triple Crown Champion. Special K, who he was
talking to, didn't agree with him, so Henson went around the building looking
for backup for his opinion. Nobody seemed to agree though, and everyone thought
Ruckus was a very good Triple Crown Champion. This only got Henson more and more
frustrated, and eventually he blew up and made it his mission to take the Triple
Crown off Ruckus so VCW can have an "A-List" champion. The main event of the
show (and thus "The Main Event of 2005") was an appropriate one, as it reminded
us of one of the best feuds of 2005, or any year for that matter: Daniel Makabe
vs. Ruckus for the Triple Crown. After a John Woo on the outside, Daniel Makabe
thought he could get a countout win, reminiscent of their match on 7/31/05,
which started the whole feud. However, Ruckus was able to reverse Makabe, and he
in fact got the countout win to cap off 2005. Post-match, Henson ran in with a
Halliburton briefcase, smoked Ruckus in the head with in, and demanded a Triple
Crown match at the 200th Show the next week (which Ruckus accepted when he
regained consciousness). Which leads us now to 2006 and kicking the year off
huge with our 200th Show Jewbilee (yes, that's spelled right). We saw a hot
opener of Big Al defending the Canadian Title against Nick Price. Al worked for
the Allen Key for much of the match, and his strategy paid off when he got the
win with it. Scott Henson, *slightly* peeved that Ruckus wasn't at the show yet,
attacked Al with the Halliburton, saying that his buddy better show up. However,
for reasons still unknown, it appeared that Ruckus was still not going to show
up, which infuriated Henson, who was now robbed of the main event (and a match
at all) on one of VCW's biggest shows. In his haste, he challenged Jacob Myles,
who was in attendance but not wrestling due to injury, to an arm wrestling
match. Myles is another friend of Ruckus (and Big Al), so presumably Henson
thought he could get at Ruckus through this. The arm wrestling match was even at
first, but then it turned out Myles was holding back, and he annihilated Henson.
As Myles was celebrating, Henson snuck up and gave him a HEY~! on the floor,
later claiming that the whole thing was a "HEY~!" contest disguised as an arm
wrestling contest. Next was Special K and Mercury in a match that somehow
started with a game of Pogs, which quickly turned to violence on Mercury's part.
Special K got the win, though, with a spin into a Flatliner. The New New Midnight
Express (Tiger J & Ryan Rage) were back together after their match against each
other a few weeks prior, taking on Star Struck of Red Money & Chicho, both of
whom hadn't been around in a while. It was tough to pick a winner, and if you
picked "neither", you were right, as they went to a double countout after a
bunch of brawling and a Canadian Destroyer on the floor by Tiger J to Red Money
and an Apron Canadian Destroyer through a table by Chicho to Ryan Rage. Zeus
McFly and Kingpin had a match. Yeah. Daniel Makabe and PSYCH had their
long-awaited rematch after their 30-minute time limit draw on 10/16/05.
Surprisingly it didn't go overly long, as both wanted to get the job done that
they were unable to last time. This led to more of a "sprint" than their
previous match, and some insane offense on both parts, the most insane being the
finish, where Daniel Makabe hit a picture perfect Dan Spike (standing on the top
Rana), followed immediately by a Trapper Keeper Destroyer (yes, it was as crazy
as it sounds) for the definitive win. With the Ruckus/Scott Henson match off,
Lenny D vs. the returning Yakuza J was now the main event. So much punching.
Seriously. Lenny D went for an apron-to-floor Wildbomb, but it did more harm
than good, as Yakuza landed squarely on Lenny's leg, leaving Lenny hurt for the
rest of the match. Yakuza got the huge win to cap off the 200th show with a
Stalling Northern Lights Bomb. This past Sunday, the 15th, we had another good
show, with Daniel Makabe defeating Mercury in a battle of leg work with the
Kondo Clutch, a move he hasn't used in a while. Zeus McFly and Red Money
exchanged ridiculous moves, with Red Money backflipping out of an inverted
suplex attempt leading to Zeus backflipping out of a Money in the Bank attempt
into the Spit-in-the-mouth Camel Clutch for the win. Scott Henson took on Big Al
for the Canadian Title, but Henson was more concerned with sending a message to
Al's tag partner Ruckus than he was with winning the Canadian Title. Henson was
DQ'ed for blatantly hitting Al with the Halliburton in front of the ref, and
then he proceeded to piledrive Al on the ring bell, senton the ring bell onto
Al, and was about to kill Al with a barbed wire chair until Ryan Briggs ran in
to cover up Al. The main event was Yakuza J taking on Nick Price in their second
ever singles match, with some serious kicks thrown by both competitors. Price even
momentarily knocked Yakuza out with a kick to the head. Yakuza came back,
though, and hit a killer Steiner Screwdriver followed by a Stretch Plum for the
TKO win. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand we're up to date!
- If you recall hearing that we were going to do a show with LWO on December
20th, you recall wrong. That never happened. You're crazy.
- Next show is Survival of the Illest 2006, and as of the time of this writing,
Jacob Myles is still sidelined, so we WILL have a new Survival of the Illest
champion. The 6 tentative matchups are set: Daniel Makabe vs. Drew Sarian, Nick
Price vs. PSYCH, Scott Henson vs. Chicho, Mercury vs. Big Al, Red Money vs.
Special K, and Zeus McFly vs. Yakuza J.
