- Let's talk about sex, baby. Let's talk about you and me. Let's talk about all the good things and the bad things that may be. Actually, let's talk about BYEverything. 5 shows at 3 venues over 8 days. Probably the craziest thing we've done yet as a group. To run down all the matches would, quite literally, take one lifetime to write and you another lifetime to read it. To even discuss all the VCW-related matches in any detail would take several weeks. Plus, it's all in the Results section (with match times soon to come), so do you really need all the results repeated here? So let's focus on the big stuff. First off, on BYG Day 1, we had Yakuza J defending the VCW Triple Crown against Arbo. Yakuza had had an interesting title reign going into this: 6 of his 7 successful defenses had come against outsiders on their turf (2 at ABYSS, 2 at Mid West Fest, 2 at BXCW), with the seventh being the Canada Day tag match. The eighth proved too much for him as Pennsylvania phenom Arbo was able to render him unconscious with the Border City Cravate. Arbo, one of the fastest rising stars in BYW history, has become just the second outsider (alongside Russell Myers) to win the VCW Triple Crown. Almost immediately after, Scott Henson promised that VCW would get the title back by the end of the week. Also on BYG Day 1 Mercury co-won a 4 Way with Lee Andrews, granting him a VCW Triple Crown shot. He claimed this on BYG Day 2 against Arbo, who defeated him with the Gaybasher. Next up was Scott Henson and Rickey Crash as BREAKIN' (faces) taking on Arbo and Australia's Ruzty at BYE Day 1, in a match with similar stipulations to VCW's Canada Day show, as Rickey put up the ESW World Title, and Arbo agreed to put up the VCW Triple Crown. Unlike Canada Day, Scott Henson was on the losing side of the match, falling to Arbo's Gaybasher. Running out of time and people, VCW put Special K up against Arbo on BYE Day 2. Once again, Arbo came out victorious with a Yakuza Kick. Arbo was in a tag match at Backyard Fest (teaming with Bruce Maxwell against Rigor Mortis & Dangerous Dave), so it seemed all was lost for VCW's top title. However, after the match, Daniel Makabe (who had not wrestled the ENTIRE week due to his injury) came out and challenged Arbo to an impromptu match for the title, in one last ditch attempt to get the title back into VCW hands. Despite being no where near 100%, Makabe nearly won, but fell to a small package out of nowhere, giving Arbo his fourth title defense in 4 shows, and more importantly, leaving the VCW Triple Crown in foreign hands. Back to BYE Day 1, after Henson & Rickey's tag loss, they exchanged words, but seemed to resolve things. On Day 2, Henson lost to Jonah Block, who then also beat Rickey immediately afterward. This set both men off again, blaming each other for various losses, resulting in a pull-apart brawl and setting up the main event for Backyard Fest X: Rickey Crash defending the ESW World Heavyweight Title (which he had won from Mike Wyld at BYG Day 1) against Scott Henson. After the two completely killed each other for 20 minutes, including Rickey almost impaling himself on a Swanton off a U-Haul truck through a table, and Scott Henson reprising his top-to-floor You Sunk My Battleship through 6 chairs (only with the chairs BACK-TO-BACK), Scott Henson was able to defeat Rickey with a CRITICAL! to win the title. So in an odd turn of events, the VCW Triple Crown is on the east coast, and the east coast's biggest title, the ESW World Title, is now in the hands of VCW. As such the ESW Title will be defended in VCW as the #1 title until such time that the VCW Triple Crown can be brought back to VCW. Other notable happenings include Special K becoming a huge breakout star due to his immensely entertaining performances with Mike Wyld as the Van Buren Boys and his straight-up wrestling performance against Arbo. Kingpin, who started the week aligned with the Van Buren Boys, soon had a falling out with them, leading to a Street Fight with Marcus Centofante at BYE Day 2, and a 6-man tag against them at Backyard Fest. Much of the rest of Yakuza J's week was spent as a member of SMASHMOUTH along with Drew Cordeiro, Chris Frank, Myke Quest, and KKK, including BYG Day 2 and Backyard Fest, where they fell to the most famous stable of all time, the Peach Pit, consisting of Russell Myers, Matt Schalk, Tommy Carolina, and Nick Thorne. Again, lots is being left out here, and to write any more would be overkill, so read the Results section, read the BYWL threads about it, do whatever. You'll get your fix.
- Back on home soil, VCW is back running shows at our to-be-named location in Port Coquitlam (Wrestleplex V2 is so blah). We had two shows this past weekend, and at least one every weekend for the forseeable future. Because of all the time we missed in the first half of 2007, we'll be doing a lot of bigger shows to make up for it. Between now and the end of November, we'll have Survival of the Illest, the 8th Annual F*** the Censors, and Best of the Rest VII. And if we can squeeze it in, a tag team tournament too.
- Yakuza J has had his first of two reconstructive knee surgeries. These surgeries will put him out of action for an unknown number of months, but it'll be a while. Once he's back to being more mobile, he says he'll be at shows for moral support. His last match (for now) was at Backyard Fest, which isn't a bad way to go out for a while.
- On the other side of the coin, Canadian Champion Daniel Makabe looks to be returning to action in the next week or two.
