- Best of the Rest VI is over, and for the fourth time in 3 months, the Canadian
Title is in different hands. To give you an idea how unusual that is, it took a
year and a half for the title
to be in 3 different hands prior to this. After being the man who caused the Canadian Title
to become vacant in the first place, Daniel Makabe went through four men to
become the new VCW Canadian Champion. This marks Makabe's second reign as
champion, his first reign being a long and successful one beginning with a
Ladder Match victory over PSYCH at Canada Day '04 and ending with a Barbed Wire
Match loss to Zeus McFly at the 150th Show in March '05. To go through all 17
matches that took place over the weekend would take forever, plus you can just
read them in the Results section. So here's the short version. You'll notice it
was said that Makabe went through four men to win the tournament, depsite
getting a bye in the first round. Well, after taking offence to being
interrupted by Senor Cerveza, Makabe gave up his first round bye and took on
Cerveza, getting the win by reversing Cerveza's Figure Four into a small
package. Other first round highlights included Scott Henson getting a default
win over PSYCH after a surprising no-show, Jacob Myles being cheated out of a
win in his first official match back by Blood Money, Zeus McFly dealing CJ
Williams his second ever singles loss, and Nick Price getting some payback on
Allan Creasy by costing him a loss to Lenny D. In probably the two biggest
matches of the first round, we had our fly-ins for the show, Chris Frank and
Myke Quest, taking on Yakuza J and Special K, respectively. Chris Frank was
under the "CF Hunk" persona and as such was busting out a lot of CM Punk
offense. He may have bit off more than he could chew when he went up for the
Pepsi Plunge on Yakuza J, but Yakuza J countered with the 2007 Escalade, being
hit for only the second time, for the win and a spot in the second round. Myke
Quest gave Special K one of his toughest (and best) matches ever, and for a
moment it looked like Special K could score probably the biggest win of his
career, but Quest hit a Wildbomb and immediately locked on A Myke Called Quest
for the win. Blood Money's cheating ways would not get him past the second
round, as Yakuza J stopped him in his tracks with an Axe Bomber, on his way to
the semifinals. Nick Price's first round bye landed him in the second round
against Lenny D, who used an MMA-style approach to keep the Triple Crown
Champion off his game, and in fact won the match with a Hanging Jujigatame. A
clean win over the champion certainly puts Lenny in title contention, despite
barely wrestling this year (this was his 6th show of 2006, and his 2nd since
April). This loss secured the fact that Nick Price would not be able to regain
the title that he was unfairly stripped of due to Daniel Makabe's actions the
week prior. Luckily, Price is still the Triple Crown Champion. Myke Quest got
his win back over Scott Henson from BYE5 Day 2 in July, as Henson was intent on
basing his match around the headlock: Henson went for a late-match headlock
takedown, which Quest countered with a Magistral for the pin. Daniel Makabe also
got a win back, this one from Zeus McFly from F*** the Censors in September.
After Zeus hit his new Cradle Powerbomb, which got him the win over CJ Williams,
Makabe immediately locked on a sneaky Oma Plata for the submission win. That
brings us to Day 2 and the semifinals. Daniel Makabe took on Yakuza J, another
match in the most bitter feud of the year that essentially ended at Canada Day
with Yakuza winning the "I Quit" Match. But with a tournament, any matchup is
possible, and old feuds can be rekindled. Daniel Makabe went for a scary
huracanrana off the top on Yakuza, but Yakuza rolled through, with Makabe
rolling through AGAIN for the win and a slot in the finals. Lenny D took on Myke
Quest to see who would meet Makabe in the finals, and by rolling through a
flying crossbody into a Black Thunder, Lenny D got the win in the most intense 6
minutes you'll ever see. Before the semifinals, to kick off the show, Chris
Frank challenged Nick Price, not to a Triple Crown match, but to an American
Gladiators rematch for the rights to the "Cockstrong" gimmick, which Nick Price
has not done much with since he won it, besides try to sell it on Ebay. Chris
Frank won his gimmick back with a surprise Cock Attack on one of the gladiators.
He went on to use the gimmick while teaming with Jacob Myles as "Tag Team" in a
4 Way Elimination tag against "Team Discovery Channel" of Scott Henson and CJ Williams,
"Coq & Balls" of Special K and Zeus McFly, and "Team Cirrhosis" of Allan Creasy
and Senor Cerveza, which Tag Team won. This would prove to be CJ Williams's last
VCW match for a while, as he is following J-Nox's lead and moving to Alberta.
Hopefully we'll see him back sometime. Nick Price made his first defense of the
Triple Crown since winning it last month, defeating Blood Money with the Premium
Bridge. In the main event, Daniel Makabe took on Lenny D for the vacant Canadian
Title in the Best of the Rest finals. The two agreed to make it a No-DQ
Falls-Count-Anywhere match, which ended up working in Makabe's favour, as he got
the pin on Lenny on the floor after an insane Trapper Keeper Bomb off the Coke
Machine through a table, making him the new champion. Post-match, Makabe went on
a tirade against almost all of VCW's roster EXCEPT Lenny D, whose ideals Makabe
respects, and Allan Creasy, who is of course part of Newton Boys Deluxe with Makabe.
After taking shots at just about every VCW member in attendance for not living
their lives as well as him, Makabe exited to a chorus of boos. Lenny D quickly
got on the mic afterward and lifted to crowd's spirits to end the show. We don't
have much to talk about in the way of Nov. 25th results; read the Results
section to see why. We've got 6 big shows coming up in December starting this
Sunday, and ending with the "Main Event of 2006" on December 30, which will be a
Triple Crown defense of some nature.
- Yakuza J made a surprise appearance at XWA's 2nd Annual BYT (Backyard Turkey)
this past weekend, going to a 30 minute draw with Loko on Day 1, and beating the
shit out of a bunch of WrestleFigs kids on Day 2, alongside Tommy Flambeau,
Arbo, Jason Styles, and Loko.

- So let's talk a little more about what went down in the main event this past
Saturday. First off, "Greasy" Allan Creasy, who was accompanying Daniel Makabe,
was ejected from ringside before the match started, a smart precaution by the
ref. Fast forward to the end of the match. Daniel Makabe hits the John Woo on
Nick Price with the referee behind him, thereby taking out the referee. Whether
this was Makabe's intention is debatable. Nevertheless, Allan Creasy took the
opportunity the intrude on the match and hit the POUNCE on Nick Price. But with
the ref knocked out, there was no one to count the pin. Creasy took the ref's
shirt and tried to count the pin himself, but even he and Makabe recognized this
would never fly. But seconds later, they shot each other a knowing glance, as a
girl in the crowd, heretofore thought to be a random crowd member, removed her
jacket to reveal a referee's shirt. She ran in and counted the pin, seemingly
giving Makabe the Canadian Title. Makabe and Creasy cut a promo on how they had
schmozzed the crowd once again, and introduced the newest member of the
now-renamed Newton Boys Deluxe, Miss Ogyny, whom they had even acquired a
(dubious) referee's license for. Not able to take it any longer, VCW's Primary
Stockholder, Scott Henson, felt the need to step in. He made it clear that there
is no way that Makabe can win the belt that way, but by the same token, Nick
Price can't very well be considered the champion, seeing as he WAS pinned,
however sketchy the circumstances were. There was no choice but to declare the
title vacant. With Best of the Rest VI coming up next, traditionally with a
Canadian Title shot going to the winner, it seemed logical to simply take out
the title SHOT part of the stipulation, and make the tournament FOR the Canadian
Title. And here we are.
- Two first round matches announced for Best of the Rest: CJ Williams vs. Zeus
McFly, and Jacob Myles vs. Blood Money.
- "VCW The Music" Volumes 1 through 8 are now available in the Merchandise
section. Check it out.

- Less than a week since the last update, and already, TONS MORE SHIT HAS GONE
DOWN. It is a tumultuous time in VCW, and incidentally, tumultuous is an awesome
and underrated word. Let's start with the big news and work our way down to the
news no one cares about. First up, no fancy introductions to it, NICK PRICE IS
NO LONGER THE VCW CANADIAN CHAMPION. Yes, just as fast as became the first
Quadruple Crown Champion in the modern history of VCW, it was gone. Don't it
always seem to go that you don't know what you got 'till it's gone?
Anyway, in the main event, Nick
Price put his VCW Canadian Title on the line against Daniel Makabe (after Daniel
Makabe THOUGHT he signed a contract for a match for the VCW Quadruple Crown, but
it was in fact just for the Canadian). The ending was a schmozz among schmozzes,
involving second referees, sketchy referee's licenses, GIRLS~!, and Allan Creasy
being a butt. In the end, it was determined that despite getting an extremely
dubious pinfall, Daniel Makabe could not be recognized as VCW Canadian Champion.
By the same token, neither could Nick Price. After much debate, it was
determined that the title must be declared vacant. What does this mean for YOU,
THE VIEWER? Well, up until yesterday, next week's Best of the Rest tournament
was scheduled to be for the traditional shot at the Canadian Title, as it is
every year. However, with a vacant title, the tournament is now FOR the title.
Yeah, that's right. And what was scheduled to be a 16-man tournament is now a
14-man tournament, as Daniel Makabe and Nick Price will get byes to the second
round. The 12 men competing in the first round are: Scott Henson, Yakuza J,
Special K, Zeus McFly, PSYCH, Allan Creasy, Lenny D, CJ Williams, Jacob Myles,
Blood Money, Myke Quest, and Chris Frank. Also on the show was Allan Creasy
getting a win over Special K by bringing back the POUNCE, Adam Silva having
another good showing for himself but falling to CJ Williams's Hero Killer,
Yakuza J winning a 3 Way with Zeus McFly and Blood Money with a never before
seen hiptoss into a Northern Lights Bomb, and Scott Henson dealing PSYCH his
first loss since his return with the Ka-Blamo 2K6 in a crowd-pleaser.
- For those who can't read (so why am I typing this?), the new *MATCHES* are not
up in the Multimedia section yet; only the new Music Videos and Other Videos
are. When the new matches DO go up, WE'LL FUCKIN' TELL YA. SO RELAX.

- Yes, it's very, very soon for another update, but hey, you deserve it. VCW
presented "Intercourse Fireman Vagina" on November 4, featuring another
super-fun 5 Way Dance along the lines of Crotchtoberfest on October 14. This one
featured Scott Henson, Special K, CJ Williams, Blood Money, and the debuting
Senor Cerveza. Little is known about Cerveza, other than he hails from the
second best Tex-Mex restaurant in Albuquerque, New Mexico: Casa Bonita. Special
K avenged his previous 5-Way loss, this time picking up the win over newcomer
Cerveza with the Rolling Octaclutch, just a Cerveza was getting up from hitting
a Pumphandle Powerbomb on Blood Money. Next was a press conference called by
Quad Crown Champion Nick Price. He was scheduled to make his first defense of
the Quad Crown next week (November 11) against Ruckus, but it turns out Ruckus
will be unable to make that show. As such, Nick Price sounded as if he was going
to make an open challenge, but before he could complete his thought, he was
interrupted by Daniel Makabe along with "Greasy" Allan Creasy. Makabe bullied
Price into a contract signing for what he thought was a Quad Crown match next
week. After both men had signed the contract, Makabe arrogantly asked the
overseeing official to read the contract aloud. Much to Makabe's chagrin, it
turns out the contract was only for a Canadian Title match, and not the whole
Quad Crown. Obviously flustered, but still trying to maintain control, Makabe
accepted his fate, and then tried to attack Price before being restrained. Price
in fact got the last laugh, as, after Makabe had thought he left, he ran back in
and speared Allan Creasy, who Makabe pulled into harm's way to save himself. Makabe then
proceeded to get the hell out of Dodge, before any more misfortune befell him.
So it will be Nick Price vs. Daniel Makabe for the Canadian Title on Remembrance
Day this weekend, with Makabe having a chance to break up the Quad Crown before
one successful defense of it, and in doing so, become the two-time Canadian
Champion.
- It is now confirmed that Drew Sarian is, in fact, dead. Blood Money is
credited with the kill, and will receive 10 points.
- The Music section is now very up-to-date now and slightly redesigned, with
some OLD music dug up and added.
- A MAJOR update is coming to the Media section. Actually, there's already a
pretty big update, with a bunch of new music videos and various promo videos.
But the BIG update will contain a COMPLETELY RIDICULOUS 56 new, full,
commentated matches. Yeah, 56. Nearly doubling the amount of full matches
already on the site. As if that wasn't enough, the full show of this year's
Canada Day Massacre will be up like we did with last year's.
- VCW's Best of the Rest VI is just over a week away, and will without a doubt
be the biggest and best tournament we've ever done. For the first time, it will
be a 16-man tournament with the winner getting the traditional Canadian Title
shot against the winner of Nick Price vs. Daniel Makabe this weekend. Also for
the first time, one quarter of the tournament will be comprised of outside
talent, featuring New Jersey's Chris Frank and Myke Quest, and California's Seth
Cage and Damian Black, all of whom are no strangers to VCW supershows, and who
each hope to be the first outsider since Russell Myers to hold VCW gold (and in fact the first
outsider ever to hold the Canadian Title). Look for brackets to be put up after
this weekend's show.
