- Lots to talk about since last time. Due to our 5-month season in 2007 as
opposed to the usual 12 months, we continue to try to pack in the requisite
supershows. On October 28, we had our 8th Annual F*** the Censors. Red Money and
Chicho, who were on the same page when last we saw them, had a meeting in the
parking lot before the show. Money, angry at Chicho for his infrequent
appearances and lack of backup power, called him out. Chicho, quite flippant
about the whole ordeal, told Money he was busy and made it clear that this was
not a priority for him. This wasn't good enough for Money, who smacked him in
the face and challenged him to a match, essentially dissolving their
partnership. Despite Chicho's best efforts, including a Super German with a
pumpkin on Money's head, Red Money came out the victor after debuting his new
move, the Blood Bank. Senor Cerveza claimed his first title shot in VCW, taking
on Scott Henson for the ESW World Title. Cerveza put up probably his best and
most competitive fight to date, but eventually fell to a Ka-Blamo 2K6 and a
CRITICAL! Championship Edition by Henson, for Henson's first successful defense
of the east coast title. Henson was given no time to celebrate, however, as
Daniel Makabe and Allan Creasy immediately hit the scene, and committed the
unthinkable act of trying to suffocate Henson by putting a plastic bag over his
head. Luckily, Special K was in quickly with the save, and Special K vs. Allan
Creasy for the Canadian Title was on. K continued his trend of winning his title
defenses with pinning combinations never before seen in VCW, this time being a
bridging backslide. After the show, Henson brought out the deck of stipulation
cards not seen since Best of the Rest in 2005, challenging Allan Creasy to a
stipulation match. Creasy agreed and picked a card which ended up being a Beard
vs. Beard Match, a VCW first. Creasy agreed to do the match only if Henson also
put up the ESW World Title. Henson was not expecting two World Title defenses in
two shows, but he agreed. Fast forward one week to November 4, and the match is
on. Creasy, in control, called for the NLB2K6 (Wristclutch Northern Lights
Bomb), an obvious shot at Yakuza J, Henson's sidelined friend, but Henson
quickly countered into a Wristclutch Small Package for the pinfall, winning the
Beard vs. Beard match. However, before Henson could enjoy his win and, more
importantly, shave Creasy, Daniel Makabe ran in and clocked Henson in the back
of the head with Henson's own title belt. When Henson regained consciousness, he
found that he was minus one beard, which Makabe and Creasy had shaved while he
was out. And despite losing, Creasy has not honoured the stipulation, and likely
never will. Also on the show, Special K had his third successful Canadian Title
defense (in just three shows) against Red Money, already putting him more than
half way to previous champion Daniel Makabe's 5 defenses, which took him 11
months. Speaking of 11, on 11/11 we had our next show. A beardless (and
depressed) Scott Henson lost a 3 Way, along with Nick Price, to Special K. As a
small matter of revenge, Henson was able to help Red Money defeat Allan Creasy,
but this hardly seems enough payback for beard shaving and attempted murder.
Also on the show, Tony Baroni took on Daniel Makabe in a match scheduled for
nearly a year earlier (the Dec. 30th 2006 show that never happened), and got the
big win with the Baroni Buster. This past weekend, November 17 & 18, was our
first on-time supershow of the year, Best of the Rest VII. We saw two big
returns for the tournament in Chris Mason and Zeus McFly, and they, along with
Tony Baroni, Special K, Scott Henson, Red Money, Daniel Makabe, Allan Creasy, CJ
Williams, Nick Price, and the mysterious Black Ninjas (#45 & #106), made up the
first round. Several excellent matches later, we were down to Creasy, Money,
Henson, Baroni, Price, and Williams. After THAT, we were left with Price,
Creasy, and Baroni, perhaps VCW's most famous 3 Way rivalry, along with Jason
Drake/Psychotic Kid/Christian Drake, for the finals. This is VCW's first 3-show
Best of the Rest, with only one round of the tournament being fought per show,
so as to make sure that no wrestler was at a disadvantage due to fatigue or
injury from one round to the next. The 3 Way finals will be this coming Sunday,
November 25. This may be different than previous 3 Ways between these three, as
it is not a Dogfight as they are accustomed to. Also, Creasy and Price are very
much on the same page, which may not bode well for Baroni. November 18 also saw a 3 Way (V)el Dorado Offer Match, as
I.Q. Yarder and Kel Generico took on the debuting (albeit entering to familiar
music) Tightness Dragon, named so for his pants. Dragon made a quick impact in
VCW, winning his first match with a double flying armbar on his two opponents,
declaring himself "Shootness" Dragon while doing so.
