- Let's get right to it. May 3 saw Zeus McFly expecting his Triple Crown
match with Daniel Makabe, only for Scott Henson to walk by informing him that
Makabe had sent him a text message saying he was in Chicago. This was the last
straw for McFly, as he threatened to come to Makabe's house to get his title
shot. McFly's opponents that day ended up being Scott Henson and Makabe's
partner Special K in a 3 Way Dance, where McFly defeated Special K with Makabe's
own Makabe Lock 3.141592654, further sending a message. Just to make sure,
however, later in the week McFly made good on his threat and ambushed Daniel
Makabe in his own apartment, hanging him off the 7th-floor balcony. Makabe
finally agreed to a Texas Death Triple Crown match for May 9. Also on May 9,
Chris Mason took on Scott Henson, angry at Henson for his role in bringing back
Kristian Drake and PSYCH in recent months. Henson defeated Mason with the
Ka-Blamo 2K6, but almost immediately after the pinfall, Mason was demanding a
rematch. Henson agreed, saying he beat Mason in one of Mason's own "Seven Minute
Miracles" (give or take a few minutes), but wanted to see if Mason could go
longer and still put up a fight, so he challenged Mason to a 2-of-3 Falls Match,
which was quickly accepted. In the main event, Zeus McFly finally got his Triple
Crown shot against Daniel Makabe. Several tables were destroyed, including one
on a top-to-floor senton by Makabe on McFly who was taped to the table, but even
that could not keep McFly down for the 10 count. Back in the ring, Makabe went
for the Dan Spike through a table, but Zeus reversed it into the M.A. (top-rope
powerbomb) through the table. Makabe staggered to his feet and was quickly
drilled in the head with McFly's thumbtack bat, reminiscent of Lenny D vs. Shane
Mondo from 2003. Makabe was out for the 10 count and a whole lot more, and we
had a new Triple Crown champion on our hands. After 7+ years in the company,
Zeus McFly finally won the big one. No rest for the wicked, as McFly defended it
the very next week against Yakuza J, amazingly knocking him out in barely over a
minute. Also that day, soon-to-be-opponents Scott Henson and Chris Mason took on
the team of Daniel Makabe and Special K. After a series of dives, all the
participants were on the outside. Chris Mason could have re-entered the ring at
around the 17 count, but instead opted to go to the top rope and do an Orihara
Moonsault onto the three other wrestlers, resulting in all of them being counted
out. Henson and Mason exchanged words after match, leading to their upcoming
2-of-3 Falls Match. Makabe and Special K were not enthused with the match result
either. The following week, May 24, saw Special K alone in the office, pacing.
Apparently Daniel Makabe was again not at the show, despite telling K he would
be. K was obviously upset with this, in addition to the fact that their team
hadn't been as successful as Makabe had promised, losing the Titles vs. VCW
Control match in April, and going to a double countout last week. K got so upset
that he had to take his clothes off, and who could blame him. K ended up teaming
with Triple Crown Champion Zeus McFly against Scott Henson and Drew Sarian,
making his first appearance since losing the Canadian Title to Alex McConnell at
VCW vs. The World 6. Sarian bounced back, Superkicking Special K off a kneeling
McFly's shoulders, allowing Scott Henson to hit the CRITICAL! Championship
Edition for the win. Mitch Deppen, looking to make his first defense of the
Canadian Title, came out after the match and issued an open challenge. Drew
Sarian accepted, but within seconds, EVERYONE in the match accepted, making it a
4-on-1 Handicap, as it was never specified how many people could answer the
challenge. A newly confident Deppen took this in stride, and was able to defeat
all four with his two main weapons, the Deep End, and the Ankle Lock. After the
match, referee Johnny K, who has not wrestled in VCW since 2006, accepted the
challenge, as there was apparently no back-end time limit on the challenge
either. This was still not a problem for Deppen, though, as he was able to
reverse a guillotine choke into the Ankle Lock for another defense. On May 31,
Yakuza J, who had missed the previous week as a result of injuried sustained in
Zeus McFly's one-minute KO of him, demanded a rematch, citing that the result of
their previous encounter had been a fluke. This one certainly went longer than a
minute, but the result was the same: McFly finally hit the Abdominizer, and
despite getting his hand worked over by Yakuza during the match, manned up and
hit another KO punch for the three count. Earlier in the week, Makabe had shown
up unannounced at Special K's house to apologize for his missing the last show
and their team not winning the matches they were supposed to. Despite flowers
and presents, and even an acoustic guitar serenade, Special K was having none of
this. He said he wanted a match with Makabe. If Makabe wins, he'll keep teaming
with him; but if K wins, they're done. So on May 31 the two went at it in a
"Love Him or Leave Him" match. After it looked like Special K had escaped a
Trapper Keeper Bomb, Makabe quickly reversed it into a roll-up for the win,
perhaps in doing so proving to Special K that he IS worth having as a partner.
They tested out this theory the next week against VCW's two champions, the
Richmond Horticultural Society of Zeus McFly and Mitch Deppen. Makabe and K
seemed better in synch than previously, and were able to outfox McFly and
Deppen, pinning them simultaneously with a German Suplex and Darkness Buster.
Also on June 7, Drew Sarian took on Scott Henson. The end came when Sarian hit
the Dru Calling (Pumphandle Half-Nelson Suplex) followed by a Superkick on
Henson. Henson stumbled back and fired back with a Superkick of his own, falling
to his knees after this last burst of adrenaline. Sarian also stumbled back, and
came back to kill Henson in the face with a final Superkick while he was on his
knees for the win. Sarian is officially on a minor roll.
- Two big dates coming up: July 5 is the 10th and final VCW Canada Day Massacre,
and July 26 is our LAST SHOW. You should come. Seriously.
