Interview with MAKABE

How did you come to being a backyard wrestler://
Of all of the VCW locker room I probably have the most experience when it comes to Backyard Wrestling. I've been doing it for about 6 years now. My friends and I used to plan out entire matches in character (ie WWF workers) and do short 5 min matches because we couldn't remember that many spots. It escaladed where around 5 years ago we had a Shoot Backyard League that I always wanted to turn "worked." Then about 3 years ago I started up BTW (Backyard Trampoline Wrestling) with a few pals and it was more gimmick based than I prefer my wrestling to be but there were a few workers (alright, only 3) who had a good base when it came to ringwork. Around 6 monthes ago I met Scott Henson and tried out for VCW, and it's one of the best things i've done in a long while... Little did he know that I'd be EVIL and would take over his company and steal his belt... MUAHAHAHAHA

Why://
I've been watching wrestling for 13 years, I've always loved it. Backyard Wrestling is just something I love to do. And as Rukkus would say "It's something I do alot better than alot of people" (joke, don't bitch)

Do you plan to go pro ://
Fuck No... I plan on not being on welfare as well... There's no money in professional wrestling until you make it to the big time and my style doesn't suit the "big time..." and I aint no conformist.

Tell me something about your appearance ://
May be the only world champion to wear glasses (so i'm told). Seattle Mariners Hat, ICP T-shirt, Torn Blue Coveralls, My lovely Airwalk shoes and of course the KICKPADS (not like you can actually see em' underneath my coveralls but trust me, they're THERE)... I need to get me some Kneepads.

Your style of wrestling ://
I like to think that i'm pretty damn versatile in all my matches. My favourite style is definitely technical or shoot. People out there who claim their technical couldn't lick my airwalks... They don't fucking know what technical wrestling is. Nothing's more fun that kicking and kneeing guys and locking on the SWEET, SWEET Jujis... When it comes to working little guys I love to do Lucha... I'm not exactly the fastest guy but I'm probably the most agile Heavyweight in VCW (Diving Senton anyone?). Like Scott, I also like to whip out the highspots on the little guys although I rarely do.

Are there any wrestlers in the league you don't like ://
Not really... There are some who I have my differences with but none that I really don't like.

Toughest opponent ://
That's a real tough one... I think my most hard hitting match was against the Man-Beast before he left and that was probably my favourite match I've been in to date... However Getting a non-negative star match out of Scotty is a task in itself, so I suppose he's the toughest (HA!)

Best Partner ://
I've been involved in 2 teams in VCW... Team Strongstyle & DARKSIDE BS-X... Strongstyle last for one or two shows and I really enjoyed it but there wasn't enough longevity in it for me to choose it. BSX is a great Team in VCW and me and Lenny D work well together

Most spectacular match ://
Spectacular eh? Well that's a toughie... For stiffness it would be vs. Man-beast, for technicality (if that makes any sense) it would be vs. Scott Henson, my 2nd week in. For Dropping people on their heads? I dunno, I had a few matches with Chris Mason and Bromine which I've really enjoyed and have led to some awesome new spots occuring in VCW... Although it wasn't the best match, Me vs. Chris Mason from the Event where it Rained a Whole Bunch was pretty cool for the simple fact that I whipped out a Spanish Fly (WOO!)

Have you won any Titles ://
Current VCW Triple Crown Champion (editor's note: no longer champion), I've held that Title for about 2 monthes now and I beat Scott Henson for it at the old VCW Arena.

Is there anyone in the fed you haven't rivaled with, and want to ://
Well Rivaled is a tricky word... I like to look at a Rivalry as a series of matches that our built to a big blow off (usually with a gimmick)... I don't think I've faced anyone that much except maybe Scott Henson. I wouldn't mind working a "rivalry" with Shane *cough*Sweeney*cough* as well as Bromine, Both guys that I've helped train a bit.

Any Last Comments? ://
Yeah, Backyard Wrestling is one of the more fun things that I do and I suggest anyone who's thinking about it, try it out, make a ring, buy a trampoline whatever... But be safe about it so we don't get a bad name (I hate mindless garbage wrestling without a purpose other than senseless bloodshed, that's what's wrong with Backyard Wrestling, that's the cliche). VCW is the best Backyard Fed I've ever worked with really diverse talent and I look forward to more and more expansion in the year 2002. Until then... Welcome... to... the... DARKSIDE!
