Interview with Lenny D.

How did you get started in backyard wrestling?
My brother would invite his friends over to watch ECW on Fridays. Then, since they where smaller than me, I'd start doing moves to them on the couch. I was a huge Sandman and Undertaker mark then, so I'd do a white russian with a meter stick and like tombstones and chokeslams. Then we moved to a place that had a (small) backyard, and I built a ring (this was about 14 months ago). Then in the summer of 2001 we got in touch with Scott Henson and we joined into VCW. After September 2001, he had to give up the tramp, so we built a ring near my house again, and thats where VCW 4.0 (I think) started.

How has your backyard career progressed?
Well, as I said I was really into Sandman and 'Taker, so i started off as a kinda hardcore guy, doing pretty much only power moves. Then at my 2nd VCW show, I faced the Hardcore Hillbilly in a Flaming Barbedwire Bat Deathmatch, and that's where the serious bump taking began. After a while I was getting Smarkier, and they decided to start putting me into more Main Events and Heavyweight style matches, where i began to grow as a wrestler. I'm very pleased with the way things progressed,
because I now consider myself the most versatile wrestler in VCW. I can do the deathmatches, I can do the brawls, I can do the matwork, I can work Kings' Road. Pretty much any kinda match with anyone.

If you could change one thing about VCW, what would it be?
The Builds. HIGHOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

Who has given you the most problems in VCW?
Scott Henson. Bastard, always trying to keep me down. I had respect for Scott when I first entered, we even teamed slightly. But when I started to get better, I think he saw it as a challenge to his position, so being the owner, he tried to keep me down, which 'drove' me to team with MAKABE, which brought me to the top, on my own accord.

What have been your favourite matches of yours in VCW?
My most recent match against the Man-Beast, my series with Scott, and my encounters with Bromine.

Tell us a little about the evolution of your moveset.
Well, I felt it was time for a change, and I've been training my ass off. When I felt I was ready,I busted out the improved moveset, adding some more 'technical' and moves that involved strength (Tequila Sunrise Hold, etc.). I've only gotten one real oppurtunnity to use my current moveset so far, but it scored me a victory over The Man-Beast, so I'm quite pleased.

What pros have influenced you the most, and how?
As you already read, Taker and Sandman when i first started, but i sucked then (surprise, suprise). Now, Regal is a heavy influence, guys like Kawada, and Misawa, MEN's Teioh, American Dragon. I'm
really starting to like Homicide and hes got some influence on me.

Is a professional career in your future?
Yes. I plan to train at ASWs Wrestleplex, then go to Cali to further train at PWI.

Why should you be the VCW Triple Crown Champion?
'Cuz I Rule.
